Theme Gospel of the year: Prodigal Son

VISION

We, the FMA India, commit ourselves to accompany the young people considering them as the greatest treasure from God, living the charism of Preventive Love, to make them protagonists of the GOOD NEWS and become men and women of personal competence, conscience, compassion and commitment in the Spirit of Valdocco and Mornese enabling them to discover God’s plan in their loves.

Formation

“As consecrated women in the church, we are “a living memorial of Jesus’ way of living and acting.” As an FMA community, we are “a response of salvation to the profound hopes of the young” in collaboration and co-responsibility with the laity. We respond to this call, which is the foundation of our vocational unity, by “constantly striving to grow in love,” living our life “for the glory of God by our work for the evangelization of young people, walking with them in the path to holiness”. (GC XXII Page20)

Vocation Pastoral

“We commit ourselves to promote a vocational youth pastoral, educating the young to mature in love, in interpersonal relationships and in social responsibility, also through volunteering; teaching them to open themselves to God, the source of an authentic love that enables them to give of themselves to others”.(GC XXII Page:37)

Youth Pastoral

“According to the Salesian tradition, the heart of education is the passion for young people, the art of showing them trust, of loving what they love, of accompanying them in their search for meaning”.  (GEM Page 24)

“We commit ourselves to move outside of our comfort zone to be with the young, to listen to them, to share our time, to open our hearts and homes, creating family environments like those of Valdocco and Mornese”. (GC XXII Page 37)

Young at Risk

“We commit ourselves to witness the foreseeing love of God in our ever-changing ministries and in the new educative ministries we assume, so as to reach the young where they are and to welcome them as they are”. (GC XXII page 37)

Education

“Education is genuine when it takes into account all the different characteristics of the children, of the adolescent, of the young person and is clearly directed towards the all-round formation of the individual, opening him up to the transcendent. Evangelization on its part has a strong educational dimension, precisely because it seeks the transformation of the mind and the heart, the creation of a new person the result of his being conformed to Christ”.( Strenna 2010)

Technical Education

“The schools and centres of vocational training are places, where a critical culture is developed, through constant dialogue with the Christian vision of the person, of life and of history, and where professionalism is developed according to a life programme inspired by Gospel values”. (GEM Page 95)

Mission Ad/Inter Gentes

“Special attention needs to be given to the family which has the primary responsibility for education and the first place in evangelization. The church has recognized the serious difficulties in which the family finds itself and accepts the need to offer it extraordinary help in its formation, its development and the responsible exercise of its role in education. ..in the education of youth it is extremely important that the family play an active role. ..The special tenderness and commitment to young people that are characteristic of Don Bosco’s charism must be expressed in an equal commitment to the involvement and formation of families. Youth Ministry therefore must be decisively open to family ministry. Caring for families does not mean taking people away from work for young people, on the contrary, it means making it more permanent and effective” (Strenna 2010)

Social Communication

“the Educating Communities must adopt the communicative aspects of the Preventive System with greater awareness, and enter intelligently and competently into the new digital culture, in order to offer a meaningful contribution with regard to the quality of communication. The new technological languages require educators capable of grasping their potential for humanization and at the same time capable of pointing out their vulnerable points, in order to help the young people to use them in a critical and creative way”. (GEM Page 40)

 Salesian Family   (all in caps)

“The members of the different groups of the Salesian Family, young people and adults, religious and laity, are called to work all together with a co-coordinated and co-responsible planning mentality for the promotion of the Salesian Youth Movement as an expression of the educational and missionary commitment of the whole Salesian Family”. (GEM page 79)

“Starting from the “Mission Statement of the Salesian Family”, identify in the local and Provincial Consultative groups the best ways to plan and organize together experiences of the evangelization of the young, promoting the “spiritual and prayerful reading of the Sacred Scriptures” also among themselves and making themselves more and more evangelizers among their companions”. (Strenna 2010)
