Centre for Development and Empowerment of Women

CDEW Society is a non-profit, non-governmental, secular, voluntary organization started in 1993 to empower the marginalized children, youth and women through Integral Development and Education. It is registered under the Charitable Trust Act (1955). It is authorized to plan, execute, monitor and follow up all the developmental activities of the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco, Province of Bangalore.

Vision: With the marginalized towards fullness of life.

Mission: To build up a caring Society around us, where love, solidarity, peace, economic advancement and women empowerment are nurtured.

Five fold strategies of CDEW: Empowerment at Educational, Organizational, Economic, Health and Decision making levels.

Target Groups: Marginalized children, Youth and Women with special focus on the S.C., S.T. and O.B. communities, covering a population of four lakhs in the three Southern States of India.

Objectives:

To give access to quality education to the target group.
To conduct various formal and non formal, professional and vocational skill training courses
To organize children, youth and women as groups, to empower them to achieve a better socio-economic, cultural and political order.
To work towards the achievement of the Millennium Goals.
To build up the capacity of the people for sustainable livelihood.
To work towards holistic health of the target groups.
To fight against alcoholism and HIV AIDS and other Social evils.
To promote Eco-System and Environment sanitation
To promote Peace, Justice and Communal Harmony.
To give legal education.
Activities:
Human Resource Development (HRD) Training.
Skill Training and Income Generating Activities.
Formulation and Strengthening of Children’s Groups (NCN), Youth Groups, Self Help Groups, Federation, Volunteers(VIDES).
Formation of Committee – Health, Education, Peace, and Environment.
Network with various NGOs and GOs.
Capacity Building.
Homes for Street Children and Street Education.
Legal Education – Human Rights, Fundamental Rights, Women’s Rights, Child’s Rights.
Participatory Planning and follow up of Project Cycle.
Career Guidance, entrepreneur and Managerial skills
Job Placement cell, linking to industries and job markets.

Coordinating and facilitating various activities in three tier pattern – Centre, Regional and Local levels.
